Ian Tharp, CFA, CPIR

Ian brings over two decades of experience in cleantech, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure investment. As a former Vice President at Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., he built and led the company’s sustainability strategy. Previously, Ian served as Executive Director and Senior Analyst at CIBC World Markets, where he covered cleantech and renewable energy companies. His career includes roles as Capital Markets Specialist at Sustainable Development Technology Canada and co-founding partner at Quantum Leap Asset Management, where he managed sustainable technology investments.

Ian has worked closely with high growth cleantech companies across a broad range of development stages, from private start-ups to multi-billion-dollar public companies. He has focused on sourcing growth capital from a variety of investors including venture capital, private equity, public institutional, and infrastructure funds.

Ian earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and the Certified Professional in Investor Relations (CPIR) certification from the Ivey Business School.
